Karate enthusiasts will get to see top-notch European karatekas and get to know the new kings and queens of European Karate starting tomorrow. Everything is ready for this year’s EKF European Karate and Para-Karate Championships edition and the athletes are already enjoying beautiful conditions in Poreč.
From 19th to 23th May, the biggest stars of the sport will clash to demonstrate who is the best in the continent. The tournament will be held in the Sports Centre Žatika and has a tremendous relevance since it’s the last tournament in the Olympic qualification process by standings
Around 650 karatekas from 47 European countries came to Poreč with a total of 1200 accredited participants showing the real strength of the tournament. No less than eight countries will compete with a full delegation of 16 athletes: hosts of Croatia, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russian Federation, Slovakia, and Spain. Many current and former World and European champions will take part in the competition thus aiming to win back-to-back continental titles.
The Para-Karate competition will be one of the highlights of the event. The best Para-Karate athletes in Europe will give once again a demonstration of resilience, determination, and willpower in the Para-Karate competition. The side event of this competition is the electoral assembly of the European Karate Federation at which ten members will be elected.
Due to the Covid-19 measures, the competition will be held without the spectators but fans can catch all the action of the elimination rounds LIVE on the WKF YouTube channel. All the competition of the elimination rounds from all four tatamis will be available live on the WKF YouTube channel, from Wednesday, May 19th at 10:00 (local time) until Friday, May 21.
The finals and medal bouts of the event will be available on many TV networks, including the Croatian Radiotelevision.
